Over the holiday weekend a parade known as the "Horribles Parade" (historically known for being politically incorrect) in Beverly, Massachusetts poked fun at the alleged "pregnancy pact" in neighboring Gloucester. I've posted the video on my site, Craving Baby if you want to see it. I'm sort of shocked at seeing teenagers making fun of other teenagers. I had just posted earlier today about Jamie Lynn's "perfect pregnancy" comment to OK! Magazine... but I wasn't prepared to see a video of teenagers making fun of each other. What do you think?

It's very unproductive and mean-spirited. People should try to do more good in life than bad in my opinion.
Teenagers making fun of other teenagers is one of those rites of passage. I think most of us learn, as we gain some maturity, that it's a bad thing because "there but for the Grace of God" and you never really know what somebody's backstory is. That "pregnancy pact" is about as horrific as teen suicide pacts -- there is long-term damage that sort of ripples out and can't begin to be quantified. The only good thing about kids making fun of those kids is that maybe they won't be so stupid. I think the media glamorizing Jamie Lynn Spears' pregnancy, to the point of having cover photos of her baby on magazines, certainly lends a perceived degree of glamor and ease to the whole prospect that isn't there for the average teen girl who gets pregnant. Most families just don't have the kind of money to back up a teen pregnancy in the way that the Spears family can do. Jamie Lynn will not have to bear all of the responsibility of her choices alone, working 2 or 3 jobs to try to feed and diaper the kids, etc. Sorry to go on. Guess this hit a nerve.
While I don't think it's ever a good idea to make fun of anyone, I think the underlying thought that these teens think the pg ones were foolish enough to parody them is a good sign...did that come out right?
