You leave a comment but the author doesn't give a hoot, do you visit that blog again?

I have visited a lot of blogs, left comments in good faith but never got a hi or a ho. It's kind of sad. I felt unappreciated. I came back 2x on others, the others I just never visited again. Is this right?

Wow, i'm sort of surprised by some of the replies to this. I'm awful about not replying to comments. First it was because blogger makes that difficult. I had to respond to all at once and that never seemed to be personal enough for me. I changed to another service for comments thinking they DID allow it and guess what? They don't. So i'm trying to find a way to make that better for me and the commenters on my blog.

However, I can say i have NEVER commented on anyone hoping to get anything back. I comment on what I enjoy or what I find interesting. I have certain blogs I read daily and i comment on them when i feel like it and i'm sure they do the same for me.

Maybe my blogging philosophy is different than others. I blog for ME. If someone out there gets something out of my blog that's fantastic, I love comments and people reaching out, because i do the same. I don't take my commenters for granted though and i'll never tell them i'm too busy to acknowledge them. Hence the reason I started the top commenters contest. I tell my readers I appreciate them and I try to do special things for them to prove it.

Luckily, there's room in cyberspace for all types of bloggers, and generally we're all good to one another.
I do go back if they are funny. When I comment, most times I'm not "expecting" a return although I do see some comments back on some posts. I try and reply to their email about their comment on my blog if I can or I eventually go and visit their site and try and comment back. Sometimes though, I just get busy and forget!
LMAOOOOOOOo, I wonder how many people went to see how often you comment on their blogs after reading this..

That's called being a comment whore...when you leave comments on high traffic blogs just to gain traffic yourself. I'm a comment whore on one blog and that's because I really don't like her but I get tons of traffic. My readers probably know who she is......

And while I may not get hundreds of comments on my blog, I do get quite a bit across all 4 and I read EVERY single one them;) It's my job.

Oh and as far as checking out the blogs of people who leave comments, I need to get better about that, too.

Altho I have to say that I've been told a way to increase traffic is to leave comments on the popular blogs. It just seems insincere to me. Leaving a comment in a blog just to get traffic to mine? Maybe some of the more popular bloggers have figured this out and think people are just fishing for readers?
