I have been blogging for 5 weeks now and am still trying to find my "voice." I sometimes battle with what I want to write and wondering if it will drive away readers or bring readers for that matter. I am curious who do you blog for and how long did it take for you to find your "voice"?

I have published two of my former blogs through blurb.com. I wrote them for me--it started out like a journal. I find it flattering that anyone else would find my life interesting enough to keep up on. Eventually, I'll have all of my blogs in volumes so that when I'm old and gray, I can sit back and remember....
Since my blog is no secret - my friends and family are aware - I find myself blogging more for the readers then for myself. There have been days that I think, ugh, I want to talk about how my mom's bugging me - but I can't do that. My mom's probably reading it!
I found my voice right away, with my first post. It just came naturally to me, for which I am very thankful!

I write what I want to write about, but I write it in a way that I hope will be enjoyable for those who read it - KWIM?

I'm so exhausted from staying up and watching the Olympics every night that I honestly can't tell if that last sentence makes sense.

I blog for both--me and my readers. I started blogging about everything that interests me and fortunately I've found readers that share my interests. But not many mommy blogger nascar fans though!!
I blog for myself. I enjoy writing and have been doing it since way back in the day of big chief tablets and extra big pencils. I never worry about "what would people want to read" -- I just write about my daily life as it provides enough material.

As far as the voice of a blog goes, that is something that comes with practice and, as the writer, being willing to put your personality out there (through word choice, sentence structure, verbs, etc.). The same principles taught in high school writing classes apply in the blogging world.
