Hi fellow blogging mama's! I am hosting my first giveaway on my site, starting tomorrow. Any suggestions, tips- how long do you typically run things for? Use randomizer? How many steps for extra entries are too much? Any input greatly appreciated!!

I am currently running my first real giveaway (it ends tonight!). I did 1 entry for a comment, 1 entry for a tweet about the contest, 1 entry for a follow/subscribe, and 1 entry for a blog post. Each entry required an additional comment, and I will use a random number generator to choose the winner. So far I'd consider it a success. Good luck with your contest!

mmm...depending on the contest I do 1-2 weeks. 1 week is the minimum and i run smaller things for that. The bigger contests are run for 2 weeks. Make sure you list them to lots of sites, I use random.org to pick the winner, I do a lot of extra entries and the companies love when you give extra entries for purchases made on their site during the contest.......

thats about all my tips! Feel free to look at some of my contests for ideas.....

Thanks for the advice, April! Glad to hear your's went well!
Thanks!! I think I will run it for one- as it is my first time and then as I get more comfortable doing this type of thing maybe two weeks- thanks for the tips!
Make sure you submit it through http://www.online-sweepstakes.com and they will send you a lot of traffic. There are loads of other directories as well if you Google but that's the biggest one IMO.
