I moved our kids between 14m and 16m. With my oldest we waited till 16m, we needed the crib for her brother who was growing out of the bassinet. My son is a monkey and began shimmying out of his crib at a year old. we waited another month or two until he was consistently popping out of the crib before we put him on a mattress on the floor - it was just safer for him.

It took a week or two to transition. Good luck!

Here is a fun photo of my kids playing, making caves with their bed
