Domain Change = Low Page Rank - What Can Be Done?

the same thing has happened to me :( I didn't realize that would happen. I submitted my new address to Google but it's been 3 weeks and they haven't crawled it yet. So I am very interested in this answer and advice.

I bought my domain name after after less than two months of blogging when I was a PR 2 and lost rank for only 2-3 weeks. I got lucky and got it back quickly and at a 3.

You either have to wait for the new rounds to come (which really seems like it should be any day since it has been since April I think) or you can resubmit it to google for reconsideration which may or may not work.

Are you still at a 0 / n/a or just a lower rank?

It takes time to get your PR back up, months even. If you have any social media profiles, make sure they show your new URL. Participate in blog carnivals to get new links to your blog. Guest post.

If you're on other people's blog rolls with your old URL, contact them and ask that they use your new URL instead.

Make sure to link to old blog content. For example, if you're posting a blueberry muffin recipe, link to other muffin recipes you have on your blog. If you regularly link to older content on your blog, make sure to go back and fix any links that has your old URL.

Comment on other blogs with your new URL. Even if they use "no follow" tags, at least it lets people know where you are.

Hope that helps and remember that page rank isn't everything.

After I changed domains, I went from a 3 to 0 and have been at 0 for nearly 4 months. Not sure what to do either.

I know you worked hard for that 3 too, I'm sorry to hear this Aleksandra. Apparantly they have not updated the page ranks in months...I sure cannot wait for the update.

Thanks for the tips Anne-Marie. Except for linking to older posts, I have been doing all of the above. I will have to do some more linking though. Thanks again.

I also had this issue. I had a 2, went to my own domain and plummeted to zero. It has been (I believe) since March. I am extremely frustrated. Really, I am more frustrated with Google. They are the owner of the PR checker and they provide absolutely no assistance as to why this is. I am quite annoyed by their lack of customer service. I have a lot of followers and a lot of traffic. I have read and read on this issue and attempted all the fixes. I just gave up on the PR. It ticks me off, though, because I have lost review opportunities because companies look at this.

I'm so glad to hear that you like the blog Heather. My goal is to make it interactive and rewarding for my blog friends and readers, it takes a lot of time with the promotion, but it is worth it. I just wonder what my PR would be, especially since my numbers have trippled since the domain change.

I completely understand and share your frustration Denise, especially since it is of such importance. I have only had one company directly ask me for my PR, and fortunately it seems they did not put that much emphasis on it. So many other offers depend on it though, and like you I am worried about what I miss out on with a PR 0.

I still cannot believe you have had this issue since March, that is just crazy!
