I've seen many bloggers offering 'grab my button' with some lovely images. I'm really curious about:

1. Are these buttons offered for link exchange or unconditional?
2. Do we write the button's codes ourselves or generated from other sites?
3. Are people really grabbing those buttons from your site and you're getting traffic out of it?

Appreciate your kindness in sharing :)

Hi Justina,
I'm not a button expert, but here is my take:

1. The buttons are up for grabs. I kind of think about it like putting their "sticker" on my site. It is something pretty, decorative, and if you are a big fan of a blog, you might like putting their sticker on your site (like when you're a fan of a band, you might wear their t-shirt or put their bumper sticker on your car).

2. You can write the code yourself. It is pretty easy. There are several tutorials online. Here is the one I used:

3. I only grab buttons for things I connect to - like if I'm featured on a site, or for charities I promote... not just blogs I read. Blogs I read get direct links in my posts when I write about projects of theirs I take on (I'm a craft blogger). I recently created my first button, to promote "pocket week" that I'm doing next week. I'll know mid-August if it worked. :)

If you want to create a button, and are having trouble, feel free to contact me!

Hello Carolina,
I just did that! I tried the site you mentioned but found that it was pretty complicated. My image ended up in the scroll box just like hers. Therefore, I adopted the codes from http://www.mommysidea.com/2008/09/how-to-make-and-grab-button.html. Anyway, thanks a lot. :)

You're great at sewing and to thank you, i had listed you in my blog at MomBloggers' Sites I Love at Mumsafari.com.

By the way, I think page loading time slows down after I install that 'Grab My Button'. Do you have the same problem?
