Help your child get into college: Have them DO A PROJECT!

These days, college admissions are more competitive than ever.  Students with a 4.0 are getting turned down at their top choices even though on paper it appears they've done everything "right."  So what are they lacking?  It's not just the GPA that the Admissions Office looks at.  They want to see how your child is different...what can they contribute that other applicants cannot?  Will they attract positive attention to the college?  All of my students have the opportunity to Do A Project during high school, and it also happens to be a requirement for graduation.  Some exciting examples that Merit students have done include "Hydrogen 4 Kids," "Creation of the Hydrogen Fuel Cell," and "CPR for Life."

I honestly cannot tell you how empowering these projects are to the kids; not to mention the impact it has on their chances of getting into college.  The look of satisfaction and achievement on their faces is priceless as they realize they have positively impacted their community through their project, all the while helping their chances at getting into their top choice college.

Don't have your child write a statement of purpose that describes what they hope to accomplish- have them write one about what they have accomplished already!  Be proactive in your child's education. https://s2-dallas.accountservergroup.com/~meritwor/en/Shop_Online/B...
