Permalink Reply by Jenni Lynn on August 14, 2010 at 12:13am Agreed. It is your blog, and you need to like what you're doing.
If I was made a similar offer, I would probably decline... I have a craft blog, so I would want sponsors that I feel appeal to the readers (Craft stores, fabric, stamps, etc). I would be concerned that a misplaced ad would detract from the look and feel of my blog.
That said, I do live in Las Vegas, and have nothing against gambling... so if the price was right... I can't say that I wouldn't go for it. : )

Permalink Reply by Emily faliLV on August 16, 2010 at 7:13pm Yes, I agree with the others...don't approve ads unless you would want them on their. Specifically you probably want to stay away from making money online, gambling, and other "adult" sites of course...those probably won't appeal to your audience anyway so don't waste your readers time and instead advertising things of value.
Emily, I do not recommend linking to a gambling site. Google considers sites like that to be a "bad neighborhood" to be linked to.
What is the page rank of your site? On my PR 3 blog, I charge $120 for a year of text link advertising. On my PR 5 blog, I charge $150. I'd like to get more but advertisers don't seem to want to budge.

Permalink Reply by Glenda Cates on September 2, 2010 at 8:58pm I agree that if you don't feel comfortable, then that advertiser isn''t for you. I've been approached by several companies that I don't feel compatible with (makes me wonder what they see in my blog that I am missing). Although the $ has been tempting, I've passed as their offers as their products just don't jibe with my blog's theme or my values.
I agree with everyone else...you have to be true to who you are and what you would like to support. I would kindly say no.
