I am a pretty new blogger ... I own a GoDaddy domain name and it forwards to my blog, but "blogspot" still appears in the address when you go to the site. I know there is a way to mask this so it shows up without the blogspot, but I don't know how.

Anybody out there know how to do this?

What you need to do is go to your dashboard, go to settings, then publishing. Then you need to click on already own a domain? Switch to advanced settings. Then you need to follow the directions from there. Right now you are just forwarding your domain name and that's why you still see the "blogspot" address when click on it.
