I had a contest/giveaway and NOONE entered. How can I do better next time?

How can women new to contest and giveaways, get good response and participation?

October, is breast cancer awareness month, and I hosted a contest/giveaway on my "new" media site. It was a well thought out, and put together idea. I enlisted a sponsor to provide the prize, tweeted it over, and over and over, posted it on facebook, and my primary site. Even posted here on Mom Bloggers club. And did not get ONE entry.

Help! Where did I go wrong, and how can I do better next time?

I would be interested in hearing people's advice on this as well! I don't always get the best response, either.

Well I can tell you that based on what you said you didn't list your giveaway on Prizey which is the database for all online giveaways. I started a giveaway about a week ago and am already up to 150+ entries. I would suggest posting your future giveaway's to Prizey. There are a few other's but I can't remember off the top of my head. A lot of blogs offer linky's either everyday or once or twice a week where you can share you giveaway. For example http://thebkeepsushonest.blogspot.com/2010/11/great-giveaway-links.... has one or the blog below has a list of blogs that offer linky's

First, I would suggest being picky about the type of prizes you offer. Some just do much better than others. Then, list your contest in different places...

In my own experience, very few blog giveaway linkies actually bring any traffic to giveaways.

I think it depends on the giveaway and where you post it. I giveaway a $25 Amazon Gift Card everymonth: http://www.mathconcentration.com - you can see the offer is on my homepage and I get a huge response. I also post on different linkys and website listed here: http://savingslifestyle.com/2009/02/list-for-giveaway-hostlinky-sites/

I just started my blog about 10 days ago and I have up 2 giveaways with HUNDREDS of entries. I think the prize you offer has a lot to do with it. Also, I listed it on all the contest sites and posted it on a lot of sites with linkys. It has all taken a lot of time and in the past 10 days between FB, GFC and Twitter I have over 350 followers.
