I'm usually pretty savy with computer stuff. But for some reason I can't figure out how to spruce up my blog layout? I know what I want, but cant figure out how to do it. Too frustrated and impatient to REALLY give it a try. My question is... did you bloggers design your own blog layout or use somebody else? Who do you recommend?
I had someone else do it and I was extremely happy with her - Lindsey from Sour Apple Studios (sourapplestudios.com). Her designs are beautiful and she is so great to work with. I had my blog done within a week - she is very reasonable. If you contact her let her know that Otherhood, LLC. referred you. Good luck!
A friend of mine actually designed the look of mine. She doesn't usually design for other people but she agreed to do mine. Before she designed my blog I used thecutestblogontheblock.com I always made sure I looked through the banners to make sure they had one to match the background I wanted. They've got some really cute ones.
I did my own.. I still have a lot of work to do, but it's a work in progress! HTML is definately confusing at times and frustrating! I spent a lot of time on it, and I'm not 100% satisfied with it, but I'm glad that I can change things/fix things around whenever I want.
What a great question! Here is my problem....I can do the graphic design, but can't do css and if I understand how the blog backgrounds work you need to know css right? Most HTML I can figure out fine, but it does get tedious. So for now I also use thecutestblogontheblock for my background and do theother graphics myself. I love doing graphic work and don't mind helping anyone out on that for free if I have the time. And if anyone wants to trade out some graphic work for some coding advice I'd sure take you up on the offer!
I designed my own (babybumpdiaries.com), however you can try googling "free blogger templates" or "free blogspot templates", etc. There are also tons of cheap ones as well. Not sure if price is important. I typically design blogs for $300-500.
Since my "cheap" would have to mean $0 because that's exactly what's in my web budget with four kids at home, I did my own. HTML is scary but I managed to get a design I like, although it is still a work in progress. Using images from digital scrapbooking websites is also a money saver. I had many people ask how I did mine, so I just posted a couple posts this week with links to several different tutorials that I used here. You're welcome to it! Hope it helps!
If your using blogger you can get really cute free backgrounds and do your own header your self. If you just follow their instructions. Check out Shabby Blogs.com for free background and button images too. OR theres another site Cutest blog on the block they have tutorials and everything to get you to a great do it yourself blog makeover.
Hope this helps
You can also see Sarah's designs at Subjective Beauty has some really cute designs too.
I was able to design mine my self at Focus on Motherhood And I don't know much but what I learned I got from those blogs Focus On Motherhood
