Nancy, How did you get from Alaska to Argentina, Did you have good roads. I might like to try this.  Dr M

Most of the roads were great! We had to take a boat between Panama and Colombia through the Darien Gap where there is no road and we had patches here and there of bad road, but the vast majority of the roads were great. We followed the Rockies and Andes in general.
