Hi there! My daughter is turning 2 this year, but 1 was such a big deal for us and I celebrated with a Sesame Street party because she LOVES Elmo and all the other characters. I had an Elmo cake made, and decorated big! We did big balloons and just went overboard and it was so much fun! Congrats to your little one!

Keep it simple. Your kid is turning one and most likely will not remember this affair. We had a very simple party in the neighborood park. I mdae it special by baking a cake in the shape of Bella's favorite stuffed animal. I made her a ring of flowers to wear on her head. We had some food and drink, candy and cookies. The kids played on the jungle gym and swings, blew bubbles and ran around (for those who were able to...Bella was still not walking!).

There's plenty of time to get more elaborate. This one is more for you and the adults to celebrate your child!

Happy Birthday and good luck!

All best,
Michal

Thanks for your suggestions ladies! I think we'll just keep a small party at a restaurant with some games to play, like Bingo, Musical chairs, etc . The first b'day is more for parents, friends and family, rather than the kid:) but I want it to be memorable, yet not too elaborate.

Thanks for your ideas:)

Hi for my daughters 1st birthday we went pretty simple and made it pretty in pink. We put pink balloons, streamers, table cloth, ect. She had a birthday crown and a my first birthday dress. Had a cupcake cake and played in the backyard. If you want to get fancy you can rent a bounce house and do a character theme of her favorite cartoon. Hope she has a wonderful day.

At the party store I found baby's first plates with a teddy bear design. I bought cups, napkins, table cloth. No games as all her little friends were also 1. The party was playtime and getting to know you time for the babies, food for the adults, food for the babies -- I served some finger foods I knew my baby loved although most people brought their own food, and cake. She had a few nibbles of cake, but it was a cute photo opp.

I set up our high chair and booster seat in a corner of the kitchen. Many moms and dads used the highchair to feed their babies. I put a tub of wipes next to the high chair for cleaning between babies.

I think my daughter opened gifts. Opened is not the right word. She was heavily helped by me.

I did the same for my second and third children. Although their 1st birthdays were louder and more chaotic due to the kids running around.
