I think one easy way to increase blog traffic is to leave (thoughtful) comments on other blogs. When folks read them they may be inclined to follow your comments back to your blog.

Btw, somehow I can never leave comments on blogger blogspot.... so upsetting, every time I typed my blog url on openID, it always came back error. Any idea?

I have been picking just a few blogs that i like and have tried to develop relationships that way. It's difficult because there are so many bloggers and so many people out there. I post daily, reply to comments, and just try to be myself. It's probably not working but what can i say. Here's my blog: http://allfookedup.blogspot.com

I've only done 2 giveaways so far and have a decent amount of traffic. My suggestions?

1. guest post on other blogs within your niche. Especially bigger ones
2. comment meaningfully on blogs within your niche
3. participate within your niche. Whatever that means for your niche. For me that means blog hops and lots and lots of link love!
4. Be consistent on our blog, in social media

I've been blogging for 3 months now as a "business" (woohoo!) and I'm feeling good about the traffic I have coming in. Dont' focus all your energy into your blog...remember blogging is about community.

I never do giveaways. I tried much and it was too much hassle. The best way to get traffic on your blog is to submit your posts to social media sites and to optimize them for search engines. 75% of my traffic comes from search engines due to this.

There's so many great answers to your question here, and I agree with all of them.

Like the other commenters wrote, I believe that quality, regular (I sound like a laxative) content, and comments on blogs like your own go a long way toward building traffic and growing your "tribe."

Also...creating "alliances" with bloggers who aim to promote good content can really help. A few of you can RT or Stumble each other's quality posts to draw new visitors to your blogs.

in a nutshell, be the kind of friend online that you are to your IRL friends. Help each other out, offer support, give information and be authentic.

I'm no expert but here's a few things that helped me get traffic to my site

*Submit your site to Blog directories
*Every time that you make a new post, submit it to social bookmarking sites such as digg, stumbleupon, mister-wong, and reddit
*Comment on forums and blog and include your site url
* Become active on facebook & twitter and promote your site

It's alot of work to get traffic but your hard work will eventually pay off :)

Hi! I tried Giveaways too and it brought in some traffic but its costly too especially if your using your own products from your wholesalers Like I was from www.poshbabystore.com I did get some good traffic but since I stopped to do Giveaways I has gone down a lot! Facebook helps to bring traffic too. But I have personally learned a lot of new information here reading the other posts was very helpful!

I think it's possible but it takes longer. Make sure you visit other blogs and leave thoughtful comments. In turn they'll probably visit yours. Offer content that people want to read and they'll come. Giveaways are quicker though in my experience.
