Baby Showers: The Next Big Thing

Like so many modern celebrations, Baby Showers have arrived in the UK from North America. It’s a real tradition over there and, like High School Proms, Halloween and Black Friday, one of those exciting social events that is catching on big time over here.

The idea is simple but universally appealing. Throw a party for the pregnant mother and her…

Monetizing Your Mom Blog is Easier Than Ever With Media.net

As a new generation of influencers crop up on the net and veteran bloggers continue to idealize the way for interacting with brands and getting paid, companies the world over are vying for the attention of both. Some are wooing bloggers with the prospect of lucrative affiliate deals while others pile influencers with products for reviews, added with a monetary benefit. Some companies are flying…

OUR DAILY PINS

Is it okay to completely scrap a blog and start all over?

So I've been looking at my blog as of late and I hate it. It no longer represents who I am or what my family is about. Do I completely scrap it and start for scratch or do I try to remodel and build onto my broken blog? What do you gals think?

You are probably better to just do a rebuild on the existing blog. You already have followers and they like your voice, so they may be interested in your new blog. You can even make an event out of it. Set a date have everything ready and get your followers all hyped up about the new and better blog. Only give hints at the change so that they will want to see the big reveal. Play it like a makeover show, but for your blog!

I have to agree with both Pepper & Kate. I just recently started to blog again after being so overwhelmed with life. Starting back up, I decided to just give my blog a make-over, I got rid of posts that were not relevant and am still slowly going through the old posts, though it's difficult: I quit blogging right when I started getting a good amount of comments for my posts. Anyway, I didn't have the heart to totally toss out my blog since it had a lot of sentimental value to me (I talk about my son's baby years there). One thing to keep in mind though is that I haven't changed my format as far as what I write about. I'm still writing about my life, about my family, my opinions, etc. So, unless you're doing a 180 degree turn around in content, I wonder if what I did wouldn't help you a bit?

HTH and good luck!

I don't think scrapping it would matter. It's yours entirely to do what you want.
If you want to scrap it then scrap it. Your blog, your site, your choice. Personally I would do a make-over/rebrand then one I have.

Thank you to everyone for your advice. I would love to do it like a huge reveal (Extreme Makeover: Blog Edition).

However, I did end up having to scrap it quick. Not how I would have liked to do it, but there were some not so nice things happening that caused me to change it. (i.e. One of my students decided to hack my blog and put up some nasty pictures of himself in Jordan.) He is now going to have some legal trouble when he gets back because of the pictures. Not that I wish him the worst, but I hope he learns something from this up-coming experience.

Sara, just went over to your new blog and left a comment! It looks great! :-)

So sorry to hear about your student doing that to your blog - that actually freaks me out! But like you, I hope he learns something when he gets back...

Anyway, good luck to you! I hope all your old subscribers come by and re-follow! :-)

Thank you. I hope the same thing too.
