I would like to find out what you do, if anything, to supplement your health (like do you take vitamins, minerals, herbs...)? And what have you found helpful to keep your family well?

Hi Melinda,
I use therapeutic/medicinal essential oils for health care in our home. Essential oils are nature's most unique and direct way to support all the structures and functions of the body-physical, mental, and emotional. They can enhance every healthy choice we make.

What can essential oils do?

*clean the air of pollutants

*purify the water you drink and bathe in

*be combined with food and nutritional supplements for increased support to cell metabolism and antioxidant action

*enhance your skin, hair, and oral hygiene

*stimulate and support your immune system

*reduce stress and bring emotional balance into your life

*enhance your ability to learn new things and remember old ones

*act against many strains of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites

*offer support to the whole body for optimum vitality

*be used to help infants and children as well as adults

*help pets with many of the same problems we humans have

*be recognized, absorbed, and used by our bodies because their molecules are genetically familiar to us since the dawn of human existence

*remind us of the miraculous presence of nature, and encourage us to value and protect it for future generations

It is important to note that not all aromatherapy and essential oils are created equal. I refer to the model I use and educate about as "aromatic medicine" to distinguish this method from the current fad of commercial aromatherapy. To learn more about aromatic medicine here is a fascinating 10 minute movie presentation that I recommend.

I didn't get a chance to view your movie, but which essential oils do you use most? I find myself using Acacia Oils because of the convenience of getting them from my local health store or oils from Nature's Sunshine of which I am a distributor. I have been studying aromatherapy for the past 10 years independently. How about you?
Hi Melinda,
I've also been studying aromatic medicine for almost 10 years! :) I have spent hundreds of hours in training with Young Living Essential Oils traveling all over the US, and I am certified in the Raindrop Technique by The Center For Aromatherapy Research and Education. Currently I am working toward my Clinical Aromatherapy Certification through the Jane Buckle program for Health Professionals. My goal is also to become a Registered Aromatherapist through NAHA. So, as you can see aromatherapy is my passion!

Because I am a massage practitioner, I use many different Young Living single oils and blends in my practice. Valor blend is a favorite of my clients for muscle tension. My philosophy is "everyday" aromatherapy and I use them at home too for pretty much all my body care, cleaning, immune system support. One of my standby blends is a formulation of clove, rosemary, lemon, cinnamon bark, and eucalyptus radiata. It is called "Thieves". You can read the history about this blend and the whole line of products containing it by CLICKING HERE.

Young Living is truly the "Cadillac" brand of essential oils. Have you ever tried them? Might be more expensive than some brands, but over the decade that I have been using them, nothing compares to the consistant quality, potency, and benefits!

Nice to hear from someone else who LOVES e.o.s!!! I have heard of all of the oils you mentioned in your reply. I love Thieves, especially in the winter, to stay strong! That blend is very powerful and just makes you feel stronger upon smelling it.

I also love Valor, but didn't realize it is good for muscle tension. I have Fibromyalgia, so I will have to try to include that in my getting better plan.

I would love to accomplish some of the things you have with aromatherapy. Reading your reply was very inspirational. What other blends have you made on your own?

Melinda
Hey Melinda,
So glad you LOVE oils too, always nice to meet a fellow "oiler"! :) Valor would be excellent for Fibro. Have you tried the Ortho Sport massage oil? I use it in the Raindrop Technique for massage clients , perhaps you know about that as well. Also recommend Young Living's Sulfurzyme MSM product to help strengthen and heal muscles. This product is a favorite of mine and contains the Chinese Wolfberry which enables the body to utilize the MSM. To learn more about the Chinese Wolfberry visit my website which
is specifically about Young Living's Ningxia Red juice which you may find interesting as well.

I don't blend my own oils very often since I use all of Young Living's blends which have been sufficient. On occasion I've mixed up a couple recipes from the Essential Oils Desk Reference. My favorite combination for respiratory congestion is mixing pine and eucalyptus globulus in the diffuser. Really helps clear my lungs. Pine is a bronchial dialator which helps expel mucus.

Nice chatting with you! Jen
I do have the desk reference for Young Living Oils and the Raindrop Technique is described in there. I have had it done once and herxed out. A recipe that a friend made for me a long time ago was Ylang Ylang, Pine & Patchouli as a Stress Relief formula. I just started using it again recently and you probably know how well Patchouli ages. It smells so wonderful. It has been just what I need. I always need a lot of grounding and that does it!!!
You had RDT done once and herxed out...what does that mean? :)
I am very sensitive to any treatments. So when I had RDT done with all of the cleansing eos, my body was bombarded with toxins trying to come out all at once. I was very sick from all of that and experienced a lot of pain. I know the more often I have it done, the less this effect will occur.

Why Reaching the Age of Five in Developing Countries is Critical to Survival

Every year over seven million children in developing countries die before the critical age of five. Research shows that once children reach the age of five they have an increased chance of surviving through adulthood, but there are several challenges they must overcome first.
