The biggest mistake I've made as a blogger was....

Whether we like it or not, there is a learning curve to mom blogging. No one's perfect and that means sometimes we make mistakes. What is the biggest mistake you've ever made as a blogger?

I'm just learning this one. I thought I was being nice. But soon , they just send the Press releases without even a hi can you" etc.

If they want me to advertise they will have to pay me something or compensate with a product review. Billions of $$$ are being spent on advertisement it's time to stop advertising for free. The more of us who say we charge the more company's will take us seriously and stop trying to get by on another blogger who will not charge

Gosh I've been blogging a month and I feel like I make mistakes daily. I guess my biggest mistake so far is probably not having a clear cut and defined plan of exactly what I wanted my niche to be. I started off doing coupon match ups and lots of deal posts, but noticed they got next to no response. For how time consuming they were, it was pretty disappointing. Now I do more personal blogging mixed in with some great deals and money saving tips and it feels more like me.
So I guess I would have been truer to myself from the get go?

The biggest mistake I've made was expecting people to just find me, love me, comment me, and follow me. It just doesn't work that way. With anything you have to dedicate a lot of time to others and then you can reap the rewards!

I have to agree. I've done this quite a few times last year. I've since grown some bloggin' b*lls, lol.

What I learned, is that just because you've been asked to work with a recognized brand, doesn't mean that they are prepared to roll out an organized campaign with fair compensation. Disappointing, but, next time I will know which questions to ask!

Mine was agreeing to be in a story about mom bloggers. I was asked and thought it would be a piece supporting mom bloggers. Instead, I was hounded about how much money I made from my blog (which I kept declining to answer, then made up a figure less than what I really did make). I didn't get a chance to even mention some valuable resources. I was made out to look like a dishonest, greedy, crook. Lesson learned and I feel better knowing I'm not the only mom blogger this has happened to. When things like this happen, you just have to shake them.

I posted someone else's pictures without her permission. I was in a hurry and forgot that I'd gotten permission from one person I was featuring, but not the other, and the person whose permission I didn't get wasn't happy with me, rightfully so. So embarrassing!

Agreed on the blogging breaks. I didn't write in mine for two months and lost a lot of readers. I'm focused on writing every day and it's been good for me - I find myself looking forward to my "blog" time. :)

I found that having blog breaks can be good for a person. However, I have learned from experience that taking breaks can make you loose readers. Now I try to schedule posts, if I know there will be going on a certain day or week or what ever. So if you have a few extra minutes write up a couple posts and save them as drafts or schedule them right away. I like to have a couple drafts (that are full of "unrushed" content) It will be as if you never left.

Yep, this is how I do it. I have ramped up to a daily posting schedule, and the only way I can do that is to write a lot of posts on high-energy days and schedule them for later; I try to always be 2 weeks ahead, so that if I get sick or have to go out of town, I'm covered for long enough to write new stuff.
