Whether we like it or not, there is a learning curve to mom blogging. No one's perfect and that means sometimes we make mistakes. What is the biggest mistake you've ever made as a blogger?Tags:
Permalink Reply by jessica mcewen on February 9, 2012 at 12:39am i'm really sorry, but that is hilarious. i am only a novice at this point, and i'm sure i will do something equally apalling (if i haven't already), but i am laughing out loud right now. thanks for sharing.

The biggest mistake I ever made was pretty bad, I think. I have a daily post called the Low Entry Lowdown where I list low entry giveaways so my readers can help out fellow bloggers (and themselves!), and I found this awesome site where a lady was listing different giveaways. I misunderstood and thought she was only doing it for extra entries in giveaways, but it was actually a post similar to mine, so it was just like stealing someone else's content. I felt terrible and embarrassed! I'm really glad she was so understanding about it. Needless to say, I haven't been back to her site yet....I don't ever want her to think I'd do that on purpose! I am super careful about where I get my info from now! Lesson learned!

Also, not starting with Wordpress! Yikes!
Permalink Reply by Elizabeth Fee on February 10, 2012 at 12:46pm That's easy for me... biggest mistake is probably that I didn't get started sooner. :)
Blogging is such a great avenue to not only write what you feel, what you know, give solutions to problems, or just document your personal life, and in many ways I feel I've lost out on some important events because I started blogging so late. But, as the saying goes... it's better late then never, right?

Permalink Reply by Cynthia Overfield on February 19, 2012 at 11:49pm I think the biggest mistake I ever made was not taking my blogs seriously. I would put one up and get bored and take it down. I loved designing the blog and getting it set up, but I would lose interest after a few posts and move on to something else.
I am much more grounded now, but I look back over the past 6 years or so and I see opportunities that I wasted by not sticking it out with my blogs. I have since found my passions and I love blogging about them, but it was a hard road of trial and error and learning to be disciplined.

My ongoing biggest mistake is getting too excited about something and then watching reality take place. We hosted a giveaway day, where all day long we had planned flash giveaways and freebies for our readers. Reality hit hard that we did not have a lot of real readers when only a few of our giveaways got any entries. I worked so hard on sponsorships and promotion and the end result was heartbreaking.
Now that our readership has grown, I have decided to try again with another event where I have sponsors lined up to giveaway a lot of birthday related products and all of them are working moms. If other bloggers would like to help me post these giveaways I have paid link opportunities (this is just so we can all participate in a cash giveaway), but I also have free link opportunities. Please go here for more details: http://busymomonthego.com/register-today-for-the-1st-birthday-bash-...
Or e-mail me at contactus@busymomonthego.com - Thanks, Jaime

I think that was a great idea, lol.

My biggest mistake: Jokingly offering up my mother-in-law as a giveaway. OK, I was being passive-aggressive. I didn't think she'd find out. But my sister-in-law told her and she was ticked. Worse part: Now I'll never be able to give her away on my blog.

You, me and everyone else in blogosphere is kicking themselves for not starting sooner. I've been thinking about a blog for two years. Just launched it last month. Don't ask me what took so long, fear of the unknown I guess.

I should have started 4 years ago when I first heard of http://dooce.com! Oh well, I am here now. :)
i would have to say wanting just followers instead of readers.
I have changed ma blogs 3 times! now, i am working with what i have and ENJOYing the blogging side of things.
i keep it personal yet loving and sometimes a bit of trials that i encounter but i try not to be TOO personal when i am upset because when you go back to look at things, it tend to not matter at all versus when it was posted. *smile*
i write more about things that make me smile but at times i can throw in a few scramblez about things that may have bothered me but nothing that i would regret when i look back on it! *smile*

Permalink Reply by Jessica McCoy on May 24, 2012 at 3:34pm Definitely not editing well enough on occasion. Sometimes I try to post too quickly and even though I always proofread, skimming just doesn't do!
