Twitter...its just so annoying!

So I've been told you gotta twitter to gain readers but it is just sooo anooying!  Why don't people reply?  How do you get people to follow you?  I swear I'm being quite witty! Any Twitter thoughts/tips?

LOL Twitter...think of it as leaving short calling cards Leave little "tempter" messages. People seldom reply. They get the info they want and that's it. Better yet, set up Hoot Suite so your messages can be scheduled and you don't have to hang around on the site. Although, replying and retweeting others helps you gain a presence there.
