We have the Nikon D40 and are in total love. Initally we wanted a rebel but they onlyhad the silver and to me the silver did not look like a professional camera which is what we wanted so we went with the nikon. The pictures are aamzing and the lenses/filters/accesories are endless.
nikon d40.

love it, love it, LOVE IT!

one of the best purchases we ever made!!
I have a D40 and just LOVE it! I also took a photography class at JessicaSprague.com and it helped me learn how to take the darn thing off of automatic and shoot in manual!
I have a Pentax K-M and HIGHLY recommend it. It's priced very well and is extremely good for the price point. Good luck with your search!
Thanks so much for your suggestions ladies -we're going camera shopping next week so I'll let you know what we ended up with! :)
Nikon D60 DSLR! Love it!!
So I ended up buying the Canon EOS Rebel XS -it's a older model, but I've heard really good things about it and the price is considerably lower than the newer cameras out there. I went apple picking with my daughter this weekend so I'm going to be posting some new pics on Monday!
