I have been using google analytics for the blog stats, when I use statistic in my review pitches to companies. However, I recently discovered StatCounter, as I saw a lot of other bloggers were using it. I have been a member for about a week, and the numbers are much higher than those I get from Goggle Analytics.

This made me wonder, which statistic site do you use when pitching companies, and why?

I have both Google Analytics and Statcounter on my blog. I also watch my ranking on Blogtopsites and blogrankings, in my category (if you visit my blog, and scroll down to the bottom right hand corner, you'll see little blue and orange stripes with numbers in them, that indicate my rank).

I saw some companies want your Compete ranking. For this, you need to have your own domain, so I just set that up. (Now you can get to my blog through http://expectmoore.blogspot.com AND www.alwaysexpectmoore.com).

Hope this helps!

I was wondering the same thing. I use statcounter, but I'm not really satisfied with it. Maybe because I use the free version? :P
You may have your Statcounter set at the minimum level which I believe is 30 minutes or 1 hour. Google Analytics is set to only count a visitor once every 24 hours. Generally Stacounter should be set at about 6 hours, as if the same person returns to your site after 6 hours, you can count that as a unique visit. The stats from Statcounter are pretty accurate when set properly.
I'm a member of blogger select on the product review place and have been told by very 'seasoned' bloggers that statcounter.com is an acceptable site for getting your stats. I have mine set to the 6 hours like recommended but the results are still higher than google analytics, so I use stat counter. Most any unique visitor, page view, etc site you use is going to give you different results. As long as the site is considered reputable, which both google analytics and statcounter.com are, I think you're fine to use the stats.
I've just noticed that blogger in draft has a way for you to check your stats as well. There numbers there are also way higher than google analytics which I think is crazy considering that both are powered by google.
And from Blogger still higher - interesting.
Recently I've been asked by PR people to provide Compete.com stats, which are fairly close to what I get from Analytics. I haven't been using Statcounter because it was so inaccurate, but I didn't realize I had it set wrong! Thanks Tammy!
