I'm currently using a template from btemplates.com but would really like to create something custom. One of my main goals is to create a blog design around a custom header which really depicts the theme of my blog.
I do have some "trial by fire" graphic design ability but the only software I have is MS Publisher.
I'm debating trying to create something myself or finding someone else to do it (but can't afford a lot.)
The other consideration is that I own my URL (http://www.beamingbalance.com) so maybe I just go the traditional web design route and link to Blogger. (Right now the URL redirects to blogspot.com)
Totally confused and wishing I was just a little more tech savvy!

I just had my blog revamped by an awesome gal named Crissy. She was so sweet to work with. You can see what she did on my blog at Woven by Words. Her site is Crissy's Blog Design. You will be blessed if you work with her.
I ended up finding someone to help me with the HTML so I could upload my own design and tweak the site. I give it about a "B" right now but I'll continue to work on it.
My blog, http://www.momshomerun.blogspot.com, is the minima template, but I created my own header to make it unique and personal.
And I like the clean style of minima.
However, sometimes I do wonder if I shouldn't do more to distinguish my blog from other blogs.
I work with rdesign, www.rdesignonline.com. They are not "fast food" web sites. They are quality, "fine dining" sites with programming, marketing and SEO.
I donate a lot of time to designing blogs for people. With the way the economy is right now I think one thing should be free. Everyone deserves a pretty blog:)
