I am finally going to change over to Wordpress and I'm looking into themes. I hunted around for a designer but Ive found all to be SOOO expensive and I clearly can't afford one, so I'm looking to start with investing in a paid theme (and learning how to code in the meantime). Since I'm new to Wordpress, I didn't know how easy it will be to work with a theme like add own graphics, change layout, etc.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to a good place to purchase a theme also?

Hello Tess!  I am a blog designer at Busy Momi Bee Blog Designs and use Studiopress...Love it!  They have so many themes to choose from and tutorials to help.

Hi Tess!

Many bloggers like using StudioPress as a starting point. You can pick up the Genesis Framework + one of the child themes for $79.95. They have a lot of different child themes that can easily be customized or if you want down the line, you can build your own child theme.

Another paid option is Thesis. I don't think it's as "popular" as Thesis for bloggers, however some larger sites use it.

There's also Woothemes, which has some nice "free" themes as well as some paid ones.

Finally, WordPress.org has a nice library of free themes - their new Twenty Twelve theme is a nice "out of the box" theme that can be customized pretty easily.
