The days of living our lives are marked by how well we live and the number of experiences we have collected through the life. A lot of time the experience counts more than the age. There are different milestone birthday’s in the life that makes us revisit life in a certain…
Birthdays are a very special occasion that one should bring in with innovative and unique ways that make it a memorable affair throughout your life. Although it is said that we should live each day fully, for birthday’s, you should go beyond full and live it in a…
I would like to do more reviews/giveaways on my blog, but I don't want to stray away from the reason why I started my blog: to connect young moms and give them a place to belong. I fear if I start posting more product reviews instead of relatable blog posts, I will lose my audience.
How have other bloggers handled this? Do you set up a separate blog (or separate tab) for giveaways? Or is it something that you simply deal with and hope your readers will benefit from the increased PR presence?
I went from weekly self-imposed "mandatory" giveaways, to being more selective, maybe doing 2 per month, if that. Giveaways are fun, but I don't necessarily need to fit in or "compete" with the number of Giveaways someone else does.
That's not why I started my blog and it took some quick learning to remind myself of that.
Focusing too much on Giveaways tends to take away from my creativity and ability to add value for my readers in other unique ways.
One of the reasons I started my blog was to give moms & others who were interested a place to find "better/less toxic/greener" products, so they wouldn't have to spend hours in the store reading labels and studying up on good companies.
My struggle has been that the reviews and giveaways take sooo much time that it's hard to keep up. And I do have other things to share as well.
I also know that giveaways bring new readers to my blog, and while some of them enter and leave, When the content is good, I think the readers will come back without a giveaway.
I think you need to pay attention to your goal for your blog and stay true to that focus. When you find yourself feeling overwhelmed then it's time to re-evaluate and check back in with how what you are doing lines up with your intentions.
I know how you feel. I was blogging for a full seven months before I discovered the whole product review/giveaway thing. I jumped on reviewing many things that I actually needed for my daughter but could not afford to buy. But now I am slowly going back to what I started my blog for - to share my passion for green parenting!
I keep reviews and giveaway to a total of about 2 or 3 per month and I am trying to find time for all those green living posts I so want to write. I choose reviews and giveaways carefully for only those that reflect my blog and lifestyle. Currently I am trying to refocus on great content!
