Weeks 4&5: Gain Momentum

Building on prior weeks – keep up what you’re doing.

Step 1:  Add an additional blog post this week – you must post 4 times a week.

Step 2: Planning tweets ahead of time.  Using Tweetdeck or HootSuite schedule tweets about your posts, about posts you’ve read and resonated with you.  Plan 2 a day for the week.

Step 3: Attend a Twitter Party or chat.  What are the hashtags you’ve been following?  (will provide suggestions in various areas) Great way to network and find new people to follow or to follow you.

Step 4: Create favorites. Use Twitter favorites and/or Evernote and start to build an idea journal for your blog posts.  Try writing prompts like Plinky.

@Tonya...I use Sitemeter. Google Analytics is great I guess...for those who can figure out how to use it properly. I'm a bit of a's one of my goals this year to learn how to use it effectively.

@Shelly - what is the subject of your blog?

What tool do you Moms use to monitor blog traffic - Google Analytics??
Comment by Tonya Peele on January 18, 2011 at 11:58am

I had set a goal to comment on 10 of the "Top Mom" blogs this year. I had heard that commenting (adding value) on others blogs was a good way to drive traffic to your site. Sounds like that may not be the "magic bullet", huh? I think because of the volume that people have to read, they stop by the blog, read the main article, but don't have time to weed through all the comments to even see what I have commented on. You think that could be what's happening?

I've had GREAT success with Blog Hopping!! I co-host with two bigger and more well established blogs on two separate days of the week...which guarantees me some followers. Feel free to check them out on Thursdays (Thirsty Thursday Blog Hop - opens Wednesday eve and goes til Friday) and Fridays (Facebook Fridays - opens Thursday eve and goes for a week). I've easily gained 40 followers in the last two weeks!! Both on Facebook and my Blog!!

My blogs are geared toward my clients that are local, but my goal is to expand out beyond my area. My local clients don't follow because they see me weekly. My problem is figuring out how to get followers? Heather, I also tried commenting on other blogs a few years ago (with a different blog I had) and it built up a few followers but not much.

I just joined this group. I have been trying to get it together with my blog, I have a million questions !! I have my domain and hosting and I want to blog about Motherhood, Tech Gadgets (phones and computers), coupons and Photography. Any help would be appreciated !!!

Thanks for the feedback ladies. It's good to know I'm not the only one getting no comments despite the traffic. :)

I also have tried commenting on other's blogs but eventually quit due to what seems to be no results. :(

One of my new year's resolutions was to comment on 10 blogs a day...I've stuck to it, but I have yet to see an increase in my blog traffic. How long will this take???
