When I confirm the winner's mailing info, I always ask them to let me know when they receive their prize. So far everyone of the winners has done so. I add this extra touch simply because I won a giveaway on a blog once and never received the prize. I felt really bad for the blogger because I, as a blogger, can only imagine how embarrassing that must feel. I don't want to seem overzealous but I love receiving emails saying "Oh wow, what a nice gift", "Thank you so much", etc.

Do you think it's a tad much asking winners to confirm receipt of their prize via return email or should I continue this practice?

If you were asking them to gush about it in your blog comments, that might be a little questionable, but you'd think they'd WANT to! But an email is nice and personal, and they shouldn't feel exposed like a published comment might make them feel.
