Margot, I'll second that. Any and all writers should jump on board the Muse Online Writers Conference; it's jammed packed with writing and marketing info, along with the opportunity to pitch your manuscript to publishers!

And, I'm co-presenting a week long marketing workshop with Magdelena Ball. The workshop info is:

Workshop Title: Creating and Building Your Author/Writer Online Presence:

From Website Creation to Beyond Book Sales

Description: As an author or writer, it’s a certain bet that you have something to sell; it may be your book, your skills, or your experience and knowledge. In order to sell what you’re offering, you need to create and build your online presence. Join Maggie Ball and Karen Cioffi and learn: how to create an effective website; how to create effective content and what to do with it; a bit about SEO and keywords; how to create a podcast; how to create an e-book; how to create Buy Now buttons on your site; and how to attract customers.

The FREE, yearly,  Muse Online Writing Conference is now taking bookings.

Below is the link to the Muse page that lists the workshops, pitch sessions, agents, publishers and chat sessions being offered throughout the week of October 3rd - 9th.

http://themuseonlinewritersconference.com/joom/index.php?option=com...

I offer a workshop as well as conduct an afternoon instant chat session every day:

 My WORKSHOP:
HOOK an Editor With Your FIRST Page

My DAILY CHAT Sessions @  5PM EST.  Ask about VOICE, POV, NO WAFFLES, POWERFUL WORDS, and how to HOOK an editor with a terrific WOW factor.

There are also many other workshops, and you can network with other writers, make friends, and learn a lot about writing, publishing, and book promotion. Check them all out from the links on the left of the page + where to sign up. BUT if you plan on participating, sign up soon.  MUSE slots fill up fast, and late comers often miss out. They close entries when the numbers get too many for the staff to handle well.

I really enjoy this FREE yearly conference.  I read some wonderful first pages, and help many add a WOW factor.  Questions in each afternoon chat session really keep me hopping.

Debra, the workshop you took sounds wonderful. You can learn a lot by networking at a workshop.

Demika, yours are books boys love - the title HOOKS them every time, and the fun keeps them reading.  Congratulations, mate.

CJ, your daughter is one lucky child.  A loving family is a solid foundation for a great and happy adult life.

I recently posted on Killing Superwoman  when I told my daughter the story of when she was born.  This is a very special post to me - so I hope you will stop by and comment.

Charm, congratulations. Best wishes for finding it a home! And, I agree with Margot about finding a critique group. It's really important to be a part of a good critique group.

Thanks girls, I will be more excited when I see it progressing forward. The tenative title is The ABC's of Cancer According to Lilly Isabella Lane. But that could change I am sure once the publisher makes a decision.

Charm, there are no vacancies in my group.  We have all been together for years. Finding a good crit group means networking on a writing list that is all about the particular genre you write for.  Or joining SCBWI, going to their conferences, and listening to editor and agent words of wisdom - as well as meeting and chatting with other writers.  Some might even possibly need a critique partner as well!!

Childrens Writers and Illustrators is a great place to ask questions and find a critique group that fits you:

However, make sure you join a group that has a number of advanced or published writers whose brains you can pick.  Otherwise it can be the blind leading the blind.
