I think that you and I seem to have a few things in common. I too am overwhelmed and do a really poor job of balancing it all.

For me, and please don't laugh, my writing revolves around my cycle. I'm very creative after the fifteenth day of my period and so I concentrate solely on my writing. After the 28th day I have no creative aspirations and so I focus on social networking and the business side of my writing.

But always, I force myself to make my writing take second place to my children and husband, which I find very difficult to do since I have a soft addition to the internet.

Some nights, like last night, I woke up at 2:30am, from my nightmare, and social networked until 4:30am. It was wonderful to catch up but I don't recommend doing this very often since lack of sleep can kill you.

I think we all need to focus each week on what our goals should be. I really need to do what I loathe the most, submit to magazines, study the business aspect of blogging, rewrite my book and pimp my work more but that is where I am an embarrassing disaster and a procrastinator.

Thank you for helping me to realize my weaknesses!

Yang Mommy - does sound like a great post.
Jillian - love the idea about categorizing dreams on your blog. My re-curring nightmare is that I have to go back to a nine to five! So I MUST get this writing and online store thing rolling - before my nightmare becomes a reality!

QUESTION: How do you balance it all? I understand that balancing it all to perfection is a myth, but how do you make it through a day feeling like you accomplished at least a little of what needed to be done. I really hate this super overwhelming feeling I find myself in all the time. I seem to accomplish less when I am in that frame of mind.

Am I the only one who's house is an embarrassing disaster...and hates IT! Help...really.

Yang Mommy, sounds like a good blog post.

I too woke up from a dream and wrote it all down to be rewritten and placed in my dream category on my blog.

Morning! Has this ever happened to you--you wake up from such a realistic dream, that your heart is pounding and you're trying to catch your breath? And you're more tired than when you went to bed the night before?
I did this morning~~I had a dream (nightmare, really) where I was trying to submit an entry to a writing contest and the deadline was today. Everything that could go wrong, did, in my dream. Document was lost on laptop, couldn't download entry form, time was ticking--ack!
Tells me that in real life I shouldn't wait until the last minute ;)
Have a great week, all!

Come over to my website and visit my photos of closing day at our favorite ski mountain. Totally surreal and crazy

It is so exciting to watch the progression for all of us over here at our group.

Meagan, I do have a fan page on FB and I welcome all of you to become a member of my club. I do feel that it is a great way to bring traffic to your site, especially with friends who don't necessarily understand that by visiting my site they are truly supporting my novel.

All of this social networking truly provides an excellent platform for your book and it is the first thing that Publishers ask for.

CJ - thanks for your comment. I agree that it can all be a little too much at times. Hang in there!

Heather, such exciting things are going on for you! I can see that you are hitting the pavement hard to get your writing out there and you are being well rewarded for your efforts.

Your column was a great introduction to the reality of the roller coaster that you are on. I thought it was very well written and gave all of us a true glimpse into the life of a military wife. I look forward to more.

Swati, does this mean that you get to go to Disney World? I'll have to check out your guide as I'm feeling terribly guilty that I have never taken my kids there.

Keep reading and writing, as will I!

Heather...congrats on the news! That is awesome...and I will go vote soon. I have some catching up to do on reading and writing. Self-assigned homework! Question for you any of you have fan pages on facebook? I am not sure why I am trying to do that, but I know the more noise I make, the better my chances of building up a following by the time my novel is done might be. In case you are on facebook and you want to fan me (it makes me sound like I am on fire or something!) fan page

I am just spreading a really large net at this point. If any of you have tried this and failed miserably...that would be good to know too.

Hope to catch up with each of you soon!

Heather - Congrats on the column at blue Star families - I really enjoyed your 1st post...I just cannot imagine how you do it. We just returned from DC (we went for spring break) and I totally lost any form of composure at Arlington Nat'l. In fact, all of the memorials are so moving. I need to get involved in some kind of program where you send thank you's to soldiers (so do tell if you know of any).

I am WAY behind on reading case you are planning a trip to Disney, my last post is a review of a terrific Disney guidebook.

Hello all,

Heather - congrats - I will get to voting!

Stefanie- Congrats..I love what youhave accomplished because you certainly chose to make your life happen!

Jillian - great post - the coming back early...too funny sounds just like me.

You guys have been wonderfully supportive, and I must admit, this week was a little tough. Part of it is because ALL three of my little ones have been with me for over a week (SIGH). But I do feel that the writing has really tapped into and stirred some of those buried emotions. Not in a bad way, but you guys know how it can feel it kinda churning around.
My husband is dodging me a bit. I think he can see it in my eyes that I am a little touchy.

Anyhoo, just wanted to let you all know, that your blogs, your thoughts and comments have greatly impacted me.

Hi All!
I have 2 happy bits of news I'd love to share with you. First, I made it to the top 5 of the MILbloggie awards, which put me through to the voting stage. If you have a minute, I'd love for you to vote for me (you have to register but I know a few of you already have): (I'm in the military spouse category.) Thanks!

Second, I was recently offered a position as a weekly columnist with Blue Star Families (it's an organization for military family). I'll be writing about the ups and downs of being married to a deployed service member, and my first post went up yesterday!

Thanks for all your support! Hope everyone had a happy Easter!
