Thanks all for your support of my new column at Momtastic Magazine - you guys are such a great support system!! I want to be sure I return the favor to everyone and visit your blog as well. Unfortunately I don't have access to the back end of momtastic, which means I don't always know blog addresses - so if you have been kind enough to leave me a comment and I haven't visited you, PLEASE send me an email: parentingadabsurdum@gmail.com with your blog address and I'll hop right over (it may take a few days, just because we are in the middle of a move to California (ahhhh!!!!). Tx!!! (blog.seattlepi.com/parentingadabsurdum).

Hi,

I'm Cody - I write romance novels. I've been writing for three years and  recently got picked up by a publishing house in the UK. Here's the one I'm working on at the moment, would love to know what people think of the cover as my husband designed it for me.

I have actually looked into SCBWI and am seriously considering joining.  THanks ladies!

Karen is right, Deana, SCBWI writing conferences are great for meeting editors and agents, and listening to what they want from a writer. You also get to network among other writers and pick their brains + make friends who could turn into wonderful critique partners.  Go their website and check out what they offer.

Deana, Margot has a great deal of experience and is voice to listen to. I'm the moderator of a children's wiriting group that covers pbs to mgs, and finding the right group match is important. And, as Margot advises, belonging to too many groups is just way too time consuming.

If you're a member of the SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators) you can search the forum for groups, or even post your own request to look for a group. While there's an annual fee, it's up to $70, it has a lot of benefits, and experienced authors who can help with questions about writing and marketing.

I agree Margot, thanks for the advice!
