New post up on my blog, entitled WHY YA? Everyone's reading teen fiction - and many of us are writing it too. Come on over and give me your take on it!

Something to consider if your manuscript has been reworked so often it has become threadbare and uncomfortable - like some old sweater you can't bear to throw away. .

My REVIEW of Kathy Stemke's PB,  "Trouble on Earth Day," can be found here:

This charming "green" story teaches kids about recycling and reusing - and it's a FUN read too. The great info and games at the back are icing on this yummy cake.

Books - Manuscript Critiques

Planning ahead to January already ... I will be doing a theme month were I review and speak to authors who have self-published their own work. If you have written a book or know someone who has and they have gone the self-publishing route - contact me at

If you would like your work reviewed during my Self-publishing month contact me soon so we can discuss the details! Please contact me by October 25th. I have about 15 spots open for full reviews and then other books will have shorter mini reviews. Please keep on mind I can only review print copies at this time and that my audience is mostly Mom's!

I look forward to hearing from you!

Another new short that's getting great comments. Yeah! I loved one of them. It said: Imagine meeting either your love or your killer...and the choice is yours.

If this last paragraph on this page is any indication, Richele, Lady Luck Publishing has in fact just recently been purchased:

According to a few other place I looked, it appears they were at one time at least taking other genres and I didn't see the name on any of the "bad" lists.

As for Christopher Hawk - there is a legit author by that name who has self-published his previous works. Also, it isn't necessarily uncommon for an author to own a publishing company (present company included) so that should not necessarily be the red flag. I'd simply say proceed with caution as one should in all things.

Hi everyone.  I know it has been ages since I've been around.  Doing a little of this and a little of that.  Started writing unit studies and for  I still have things on the back burner that I really need to turn the heat up on. Anyway, a friend of mine was contacted by a man who said he purchased Lady Luck Publishing.  He is looking for editors.  She has never edited before...she is a secretary.  They happened to meet in passing on the web.  He wants to hire her to be an editor.  He says he bought the publishing company and wants to gear it toward women...christian books and children's books. He is keeping the publishing rights to all previously published material.  From my search it seems they deal in erotica.  He is also an author himself...Christopher Hawk.  Does this sound shady to anyone else?  I looked up Lady Luck and it seems they sell eBooks and the editors make a large commission while the authors make 25%.  it all sounds odd.  Can anyone advise in any way?  She is unsure what to do.  THANKS!
