I think what makes a true writer is the fact that, "NOT writing is not an option! " We write because it is in our genes, and a part of our heart and soul. I always wrote "stuff." However, it wasn't until my kids were grown that I had the time to sit and really work at it in a professional way. I regret this late start, and envy those who can write between diaper changes, kid fights, outside jobs or doing laundry. For me, chaos and writing do not mix.

@ Stefanie: Very interesting takes on what people consider a "writer" is. For example, the old saying that "True Writers Write Every Day." Um, just because I don't write everyday (either my stories, journaling or even an email!) doesn't make me not a writer. I feel like I'm a writer who's still looking for her big break! Maybe I should have taken up acting, LOL!

Today, Nov 1st, is a day when many of us with children on the autism spectrum are speaking out in response to a charity calling for social media silence (in solidarity with those with autism who can't communicate).

As writers, I think we all know the power of our words. Today I'm choosing not to be silent. Come read my post at http://trydefyinggravity.wordpress.com/2010/10/31/voices-carry/ and click on some of the names in the comments to read their amazing posts as well.
