Symptoms to Take Notice of in Children

The NHS has been facing ever-increasing pressures in recent years, with slashed budgets, staff shortages and lack of resources taking its toll on the quality of care. One of the many ways we commonly see the impact of these pressures is in waiting times for GP…

Hey there! Just joined MBC and found your group. I'm a mom to 3 rambunctious boys, ages 8 yrs, 3 yrs, and 10 mos. I'm a coffeeholic, sarcastic, and love to blog about those things my kids do in order to remember them in the future, both to smile at, and to use as blackmail when they have kids of their own =)

Hi everyone!
I'm living in Argentina now and I was thinking recently about the holiday stuff again.
I had decided to do the easter bunny thing and the santa thing but mostly as a celebration of the turning of seasons...kinda pagan I know. But here it's all different. how am I supposed to do the easter/spring thing with the bunnies and eggs and flowers and spring theme if its the begining of Fall? And having xmas with snowmen and winter decor is not gonna work cuz it;s summer in december here...I'm sooo confused.

I just figure most people are very defensive about their religious beliefs and I don't feel like dealing with it unless I need to. I often wonder how many families there are that are atheist like ours and how they explain it to the kids. We are personally not bringing it up and if the kids ask questions then we'll talk, sort of like the birds and the bees thing, when the kids want to know they will ask!

I am an atheist but have never written about it on my blog, so far it hardly comes up in every day life and I don't spend much time thinking about it! Now that my oldest is 7 I suppose the god questions will come up soon.

I have mixed feelings about letting my kid believe in a magical guy who grants wishes. I'm playing along for now, but I'll tell her the truth if she asks. Right now she's afraid of Santa so...
I think it can be fun, but I think it's also used to prepare kids for belief in a diety.

How do you guys deal with the holidays? I havent decided how we're going to work around that. I dont want to lie to my boy about santa but at the same time I want him to have that illusion I had as a kid.

I read it!!! I loved it! I think its useful even if your not a parent. I wish I would have read it as a teen. I totally recommend it.
