Thank you for joining the MBC Book Club! It is so great to have you join us here. I look forward to our fun open discussions that will be planned, and I definitely look forward to reading your thoughts and reviews each month from your personal blogs.

Don't hesitate to drop me a note if you have any questions!

Monthly Book Club Discussions & Reviews:

1. We begin a new reading on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.

2. Participation in a weekly discussion is encouraged, but not mandatory.

3. Weekly discussions will be held beginning the following Wednesday provided we have enough people to hold the discussion. *Still working out the chat location*

4. If you choose to do a review/recap on your personal blog, please submit links to me no later than the 3rd Monday of the following month for inclusion in the MBC post.

5. If you receive a free review copy, you must write a review on your personal blog. Reviews should be posted by the 3rd Monday of the following month for inclusion in the MBC post.

MBC Post: At the close of reading the current book, we ask members to post on their personal blogs a review of the book read. If you receive a free review copy, it is mandatory to do a review. Once you have written your post, please send me a message through MBC with the link to your post. All links will be compiled into a blog post posted on the MBC group which will hopefully drive some additional traffic to your post. We will also tweet and include on Facebook.

Please do not send links through the discussion forum or comment wall here in the group. Send links through a message.

I'm working with some small publishers to hopefully bring in an X amount of review books each month. These review copies with be randomly selected to go out to group members. This will hopefully help with not having to buy every book, every month.

Adventures in Alaska written by Ron Hirschi and illustrated by Yuko Green

The story is about Sarah and Cole as they visit Alaska with their parents on an adventure to all corners of the 49th state. Sending post cards to their classmates back home in Pickerington.

The story tells about the earlier Alaskan explorers who came to look for gold and also tells about the first Alaskans, native people who share the beauty and wonder of the land of ice an snow; wolves and whales, salmon and towering totems. For those wondering what totems are; they are poles with carvings of eagles, wolves and other animals and puzzle-like designs. It also gives a brief history of the Russian people settling and trading in Alaska in 1799 and many more stories about the State of Alaska.

I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to every parent to read this to their child.

Reading level: Ages 4-8

The Dragon and the Turtle

Roger is a Turtle who loves adventure and Padraig is a Dragon who loves to eat. Written by Donita K. Paul and Evangeline Denmark, the story is about learning how to share and make friends. This book was beautifully illustrated by Vincent Nguyen.

I felt the story about Padraig the Dragon looking for Roger the Turtle’s house went on for too long, I had to skip a few pages to get to where he found the house.

The reading level is ages 4 – 8

Please rate this book. Click on the link below. Thanks

Black Friday – it’s Not Just About Fashion

Fashion, eh? It comes and goes, then comes back around again, at once fleeting and eternal. A style is in one month and then is never heard of again – until it is heard of again, of course.
