Unfortunately, that's not the way it works. Not if he wants to go the traditional publishing route.

If your husband wants an agent, he needs to draft a query letter (less than one page) telling the agent what his novel is about. I HIGHLY suggest he do extensive research before querying. Most agents through query letters out that don't follow querying guidelines. He doesn't want that because he only gets on chance with that book. Then he must research each and every agent he sends a query to, making sure that the agent represents the genre of his book or that the agent doesn't have a client with a similar project. Also, some agents only want a query letter while others want the writer to include the first pages of the novel (some ask for five, others ten, others more) EMBEDDED in the email. NO agent will open an unsolicited file.

 

Writing your book is only the beginning of the path to publication. There a LOT of work that comes in the after.
