Esther, I also loved Dolphin Tale.  Home schooling your children can be a wonderful experience dor both parent and child.  Congratulations.

A Hollywood movie that is pro-homeschooling?  We got to go to the movie screening for Dolphin Tale.  This is a great family movie.  The main character was homeschooled,  (It's based on a true story.)   as are the two kids that play the parts.  My whole family loved it.  The movie opens in theaters this Friday.  RSVP for Homeschool Day and be entered into a Sweepstakes!  Check my post for details!

About a month ago I asked for thoughts about using Skype and a Webcam for fun virtual home visits with parents and home schooled kids.    Just like my in-person school visit, I would talk about writing books, illustrating them, read one of my latest, and maybe run a short lesson on writing rhyme.  If a particular Mom needed something special I would be happy to fit in with her homeschooling needs. 

I also encourage the use of  active and powerful words when writing any story.   The idea is to paint instant word pictures in a reader's head. Doing this makes the plot and the characters come alive.  Reading is a Magic Carpet Ride to fun, adventure, and a chance for great educational opportunities.  Kids who read succeed!
