My parents read my blog. I have other family members that do also. As far as friends...I think I have about 5 that read it but never comment. They may say something about it to me but that's about it. To them it's just something I do....like a hobby or a way to express myself. I have not had anything negative said to me about it. They also all know I write for other sites as well as have a few writing jobs and a few works sent to publishers...so they know writing is a part of me.

I really don't care if they read my blog or not, to be honest. It does not hurt my feelings in the least. Honestly, I wasn't a big blog reader before I started my own...so maybe that's why. Now I love to write and read blogs!

I also can't say I have anyone in my life that is not supportive. They are either supportive or indifferent. Kinda like how I am with a friend who scrapbooks...it's just her thing..ya know? Now, to me...my blog is more than a hobby...but I understand how others see it so causally. They do not understand all that goes into sharing your life in such a format and how much you put your heart in your personal pursuit.

For the most part, that is how it is in my life, too. However, one friend seemed particularly unsupportive (for no reason) and went out of her way to NOT visit or comment on my blogging "hobby." It was weird and I never found out why she seemed to go out of her way to ignore it or the fact that it existed. After all, I don't expect my friends to even read the blog, but at least acknowledge that I DO blog.

I actually have quite a few friends who don't blog but read my blog and other articles. And, no, most of them don't comment because they have no idea that I'd care. In fact, most of them email me with these really great comments, which is hysterical because I'd love it if they'd just write in the comment section.

I'm sorry your friend isn't supportive. From my standpoint, it's like any other writing, and if I had a friend who, I don't know, thought it was a waste of time or something, I think I'd be bummed. Would she feel the same way if you were writing a novel? A writer just needs to write.

I only have one offline friend that reads my blogs - she started her own after she read mine. I mention it to some other friends but they just don't seem interested so I leave it at that.

I agree with Richele, I was not a big blog reader before I started my own and now I love it! So that is probably why they just don't seem interested.
