I will be doing a review for First Time Books (firsttimebooks.com). They want more mom bloggers to review their products! So please visit their site and if you are interested contact: jburke@firsttimebooks.com.

You don't make money doing those giveaways. What that does is get you followers and show that you know how to write a good review. You can always put in an Amazon Associates link or a Google Adsense link in there & hope people click on it. Once companies see that you know how to write a review and have enough followers to make it worth their while, they'll start to approach you. I don't really see reviewing products as a way to make money. Actually, I'm fairly certain I don't make any money at all from it. What it does is allow me to try new things & share my opinions which to me is a big reason I blog.

I gave away several of my own books or things I had gotten for free in the beginning. Then I started with book reviews/giveaways because there are a number of places that are willing to send books for reviews. Eventually, companies started contacting me themselves.

ok, but how do you make money with those giveaways?

I am totally new on this, had never done any giveaways or reviewed any product, how do I start?

Apryl: I got several reviews and I my blog is under a year old and I only started reviewing products in the past few months or so. I started out reviewing books...which I still do. Thomas Nelson has a blogger program and so does Revell and Tyndale.

Here are a few places I contacted directly:

Holey Donuts
Mixes from the Heartland
So Smart (baby and toddlers dvds)
Jumpstart
Snorg Tees
Tupperware

I just simply used the contact form or contact email address on the websites. I said I was a mom blogger and interested in reviewing their product. Very short email..about 5 sentences. I also gave my blog address. Holey Donuts and Snorg Tees are VERY receptive to blogger reviews AND the products are great!

That is why I want to do it. I love free things. My blog is newer though. What do you recommend I do to help me with my chances?

I'm new to the game but I do as Stacie does. I would not want to be responsible for shipping out a giveaway..only due to paying for the shipping. :) I have only done 2 giveaways and I have another in the works. None of the companies expected me to ship out the product. I just inform them of the winner. I did request a giveway book from a book review I did...they sent me both books and I had to send that out. That's not a big deal. But I really don't want the hassle.

I also never had to pay for a product or shipping or handling. All of it is completely free..as it should be. Having a blogger do a review is a great way for a company to advertise and much cheaper than many other forms of advertising.
