Some PR companies request a Media Kit which basically has information about your blog, your stats and advertising rates if you are offering advertising rates on your blog. The kit also explains your review procedures and giveaway procedures so the company knows a head of time.

My letter to companies is pretty much the same as Amanda's.

Just write a quick introduction of who you are and what your blog is, tell them some stats. from your site, explain that you are interested in reviewing their product and possibly hosting a giveaway and if they need more information to let you know.

hope that helps,

What do you guys usually write in your email when approaching a company to review their product?

Sorry! It was really late when I wrote that! LOL! It's crazy dog t-shirts:
They really are great, I was so impressed at how quick I received a response from them and then how quick I received the shirt to review!

Thanks, Rachel. Do you have a link for Crazy Dog? Or what kind of company is it? There are lots of companies out there with Crazy Dog in their title LOL. I want to contact the right one.

Thanks for all the great suggestions! I'm going to have to contact some of the companies listed! Another great company is Crazy Dog! They are an awesome company to work with and they don't seem to mind if you don't have that many followers. They were among my first reviews/giveaways.

You don't make money doing those giveaways. What that does is get you followers and show that you know how to write a good review. You can always put in an Amazon Associates link or a Google Adsense link in there & hope people click on it. Once companies see that you know how to write a review and have enough followers to make it worth their while, they'll start to approach you. I don't really see reviewing products as a way to make money. Actually, I'm fairly certain I don't make any money at all from it. What it does is allow me to try new things & share my opinions which to me is a big reason I blog.

Black Friday – it’s Not Just About Fashion
