*** Contest Announcement! ***

Hello everyone - The Read a Book Linky is up and running and this week I am starting a contest on Family Literacy.  WIN $25 in FREE Books from Usborne Books & Kane Miller Publishing by designing the most outstanding & eye catching blog button for Family Literacy!  See details at: Family Literacy. Winner will be drawn on random.org 1/1/11 - (how's that for good luck!)

Be sure to link up your Family Friendly reviews/giveaways on the Read a Book linky.  All fiction/non-fiction for kids & adults are welcome!

Literacy Tip

"A Book on Every Bed" - an appeal to spread the love of reading from parents to children. Here is how it works...Take a book. Wrap it. Place it on a child's bed so it's the first thing she sees on Christmas morning (or whatever holiday you celebrate.) That's it! View the entire article from the Washington Post here:http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/12/10/AR201012100025...

Books as Stocking Stuffers:

I've been thinking Stocking Stuffers. I love to be creative and find unique fun ideas to fill those stockings - very little on candy and HIGH on FUN! I went and looked for a few of my favorite book reviews and thought I'd share them with you. There are links (click on the title) so you can order them too - just be sure to get your orders in before their out of stock!

I've put together some book ideas, brain teasers, fun art/drawing ideas and then added some ideas to use as fillers with the book - Enjoy!  (continue reading)

For those with kids who have learning disabilities, like dyslexia for instance, "Horatio Humble Beats the Big D" - dyslexia, could prove very helpful. The fun rhymes stress that early diagnosis is key to a thriving child who can READ! A helpful parent-teacher guide is

included.
