My Sweet Baby LOVES to use her tears when she's... well, all the time. At 2 they tend to do that.. haha. But, really, I have to just ignore her for the most part or she wins. When she does get over emotional, she ready for a nap.

Now,when my 8 year old step-daughter comes in the summers, she makes me want to pull my hair out. Her emotions are like a yo yo. I have to stay calm or I go nuts. My relaxation is, Pilates! Oh, I also have to leave the room, breath and count to 10 in my head.
I just started applying a new technique for my 2-year-old that seems to be working well. She throws tantrums whenever she doesn't get her way. When the wailing starts, I wrap my arms around her tightly in a bear hug, lean her back against me, and rock her and "shhhhhh" quietly until she calms down. Sometimes it takes almost 10 minutes, but always works.
