I need a new Canon Lens for my XTi. Any recommendations? I like the 24-70 F2.8 lens but I held in it my hand and is it heavy although this means a high quality glass.

What type of photography do you want to use it for? 24-70mm 2.8 is a good allrounder and definitely a fabulously sharp lens but it ain't cheap! There sure is a lot of quality glass in there though.
Exactly what I want it for-good all arounder. Thanks for the info!

Definitely a GREAT lens.  I use it for 75% of my shots.  It is heavy, though, so I do like to switch over to a prime lens if I need to throw the camera in my purse for an outing with my daughter.  The wide aperture is wonderful for low light too!

Check out the 50mm f1.4.  It's a third of the price, and the focus is SUPER sharp.  You have to get used to not having a zoom, but I think the images of that focal length are some of the best I've ever taken.

Hope this helps!

I recently got the 50mm F1.8. At around $100, its soooo worth it. Super sharp, colors pop, and bokeh is awesome. Great portrait lens. It hasn't left my camera since I got it.
