Just curious if anyone has anything they are training for these days. I don't. We were going to do a 1/2 marathon in May. Actually it is next weekend, but we never did any runs that were longer than 3 or 4 miles, so we thought better of it. I think we will just do some 5K's this summer but nothing big. It seems like it would be really hard to train for a marathon now that I have a child. It takes up so much time!
I completed my first 1/2 marathon and triathlon last year. This year I want to redo the same 1/2 and compete in at least 2 Tri's. Currently rebeginning my 1/2 Marathon prep this week. The race is in late June, can't wait!
I'm in my taper week to race in the Vancouver 1/2 Marathon next weekend. I can't believe what a time commitment it has been to train for this thing. Totally worth every minute. I almost made it to the starting line injury free but sprained my ankle doing speedwork on the trails last week. I'm now hoping for miracle physio rehab to get me to that race on Sunday. If I have to walk it, I'm doing it. All that work..not going to miss my first 1/2 for anything.
It IS hard to train with a toddler! I totally understand and relate to that hehe. I'm doing a couple of 10k races this year. Thats a perfect distance for me. its do-able and at the same time is going to push me to up the intensity of my running workouts! Marathons sound soo brutal. I've always wanted to do one, but have yet to do it....
Miles for Moffitt 5k in 2 weeks. My goal is 33 mins.
I'll be running with my daughter, goal around 24:30 and my husband who is much faster and I think his goal is 19 mins.
I am interested in the Disney Tower of Terror 13k - a race at night around the Disney Hollywood Studios theme park October 24, 2009. There is also a 5k. But my husband usually runs the Race for the Taste at EPCOT and I don't know about 2 hotel stays at Disney in one month. That's probably not in my budget.
We just registered for a marathon!! 10km walk, I'll probably do the 5km run next year!! I just started a discussion, not realizing that you had one going about people training for anything!!!! I found it much easier to train, my daughter loves going out with me & my hubby!!
Every summer I do a circuit of 5k's, the first one is mid June, then one is July and another in August. If I can get myself motivated, I'd love to train for a 1/2 marathon at the end of August, but we'll see how it goes. I can't believe how much easier running has gotten for me since I've been practicing yoga.
