Mother of the Bride Guide

The day you’ve dreamed of for years has finally arrived! Your little girl is all grown up and has chosen a partner to start her life with, and you are officially a MoB -- Mother of the Bride! While congratulatory remarks are appropriate at this juncture, so are a few…

How to Through A Larger Than Life Small Wedding on a Budget

This one is as simple as crowdfunding your honeymoon. It might sound strange at first, but do you really need another blender or set of dinner plates? Instead of having your guests purchase a bunch of things you’ll end up trying to return anyway, why not let them chip in for…

Tips to Spring Clean Your Home

With Spring arriving it is time to start Spring Cleaning your house.…

So I started my new blog. Did a personal review for my new digi-cam & am planning to to some other reviews of products that I've purchased recently...

But I have a question about doing reviews for companies. I've found some online companies whose products I'd love to do reviews for. I know alot of you ladies said that you write to the companies & ask them if they'd be interested in a product review and/or giveaway.

But I'm confused about how to exactly go about doing that. I guess I'm looking for a little guidance on how to write the letters, lol.

Are there things that I should be sure to mention/ask?
Things I should avoid saying at all costs?
If you want to review a certain product in their line do you flat out ask, or do you just let them send you whatever product they choose?
How exactly do you tell them that you want to do a review & that you want a free product to sample for it?
Also how to do bring up them not only giving you a free product for writing up a review but also giving one away to your readers?

I know I feel like these are really silly questions to be asking, & I feel like a TOTAL noob, but I've never been good at this sorta thing & need a little help, lol.

Thanks in advance!! :-D

I just started doing reviews a little over a month ago, but I have had pretty good success in reaching out to companies. I just wrote up a basic post introducing myself, telling a little about my blog, that I would love to review their products and possibly host their giveaway and I wonder if they would be interested.
Wow you just made that sound so insanely simple, lol. Now I feel dumb :P
Thanks for the input!!
No need to feel dumb. I had the same questions at first. But then I reached out, and found that it is pretty simple. However, you will get alot more no's then yes', so do not get discouraged! Keep on pitching other companies that interest you :)
Lately I have noticed a lot of companies are interested in your twitter followers so include how many you have in your letter if you a have a good number. Also include your page rank and rss readers/email and blog followers if you think that would help. Make sure to them to ship directly to the winner if they do offer a giveaway to avoid shipping costs.
Also make the note/email personal - say why you would be a good fit for the company. If it looks like a template or blanket email they go straight to their delete button - in my opinion.
Also I am sure you already do this but I also recommend reading other review blogs to see what they are reviewing to get an idea of where to start and what companies are open to working with you. Follow those blogs on twitter and get to know the writers so you can learn the ropes.
