Through the Bible in 2010

Information

Reading the whole Bible seems like an impossible task but I plan to do it through the year of 2010. Starting on Jan 1 I will post what chapters we will read and then we can talk about them, share key verses, or whatever else we decide : )

Comment by Rosilind Jukic on June 28, 2010 at 10:27am: Okay so verse on of Prov 21 - It doesn't say that God turns only godly king's hearts wherever He wishes - so one must assume that He uses ungodly kings and even dictators for some purpose. Maybe to turn an ungodly nation to Him or back to Him.

Verse 9 and 19 - I really hope I am not this kind of woman. I really do. I want my husband to WANT to be home...not wish he were on the corner of our rooftop! Or worse yet - a wilderness!

17: those who love the fine things in life will never have money. :) I wonder why not. haha!!! Yea, you can buy your Ralph Loren, Gucci, Versaci, or whatever....but I'll stick to my Walmart and Target brands. LOL! And save my $$ for other stuff.

I also ran a writers group outside of Houston for about four years and it was amazing. The people I met are lifetime friends.

I know I keep getting delayed with the postings. My AC broke, then my washer machine, and now my water heater is out. I am about to put a For Sale sign in my front yard and just go live with my parents!

I am just going to post from where we left of even though those dates have past

First of all, I have read through the Proverbs thousands of times (there are 31 chapters, one for every day of the month - so we read through them monthly when I was a kid). But, God's Word is living - so despite reading something thousands of times, you can still glean something new. And I did today:

Verse 4: The sould of the diligent shall be made rich. It didn't say the bank account or wallet. LOL!!! But, to have a rich soul - that is something money cannot buy.

And verse 7 - "There is one who makes himself rich, yet [has] nothing; [And] one who makes himself poor, yet [has] great riches." This reminded me of Matthew 5 "Blessed are the poor in spirit". One who realizes that without God and His grace we are literally bankrupt has great riches because that man has just opened himself up for all the riches of the kingdom. :) I think that's what it means when it says "Makes himself poor". I don't think it means one has to live poor (have nothing to call one's own) to be holy - but we do have to admit our poor spiritual state and our poverty of soul to be rich in God's kingdom (the only place where riches count for anything).
