Wordpress.org is just a self-hosted Wordpress blog. You'll be able to run javascript applettes, and add as many plugins as you can find!!!

If you can navigate wordpress.com having your own site is no big deal. It's like learning to drive on an automatic and having to learn to drive a stick shift. You're still driving you just have to remember to use the clutch.

Just buy a domain name and get a good host. Some even come with wordpress already installed. And follow the instructions at wordpress.org.

Hi, I have a blog on Worpress.com and was thinking about switching it to Wordpress.org. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with doing this?

I was thinking of switching b/c wp.com seems pretty restrictive, example, you can't do plugins and they don't let you advertise.

However, I'm worried that if I switch to wp.org that you have to be really tech savvy. Is that true or does it work pretty much like wp.com.

Also, it looks like I can keep my domain name but I wondered if others had done that. I've only been blogging since Thanksgiving and I'm just now starting to get consistent readers. I'm afraid that if I move I'll have to start over.

So basically, has anyone done the move and are you glad you did it?  Thanks so much! www.racingandsavingmama.com

hope this helps!!!

this isn't exactly what you're looking for but it will help you start to understand how to use hooks and css to style and format thesis

php is just a scripting language that makes it possible to write small shorthand files to call code so you don't have to write thousands of lines of code

hope that makes sense

let me do some more checking and i may find the answer for you

have my son here for the day for Christmas so will look later this afternoon

Thanks Julia! I have Thesis wordpress 3.0, don't really understand  what php file is. Would appreciate if you would explain that. Thanks again!

You should have a php file with a reference to the author's name...

just take it out of the file,

save the file

and you should be good to go...

if you can't find it let us know what theme you're using so we can help

and what version of wordpress

Can someone tell me how to delete the name of the author in a post? This is right under the title of the post. For Example:
