I'm so glad this group exists! My tech savvy friend insisted I switch from blogspot to WP. I'm glad I did but not being the most high tech on the computer it's a challenge some days. Perpare to see lots of questions from me!!! ;) I use to be the one in my house that could program and do all of the electronics. I wonder when that changed? I guess having kids really did suck half my brain out.

Thanks, Julia!

I'm not familiar with AddMe, but I'm going to attempt to find it now :)

We'll also see if we've overlooked some sites, tho right now I can't think of any more to check. Maybe I can shake a few brain cells into action....

Blogger/Blogspot doesn't allow you to redirect. You'll have to manually put in your new URL in sites where you have been listed or referenced.
You'll probably need to manually change the RSS feed too.
You might try going to AddMe and listing the site there and see if it helps put you back on the planet.
I'm not familiar with BlogFrog but you may have to do some extra social networking to get back in the game. Facebook, Twitter etc etc etc

Thanks to my daughter's web design class, 'Ethel' and I grabbed the chance to switch from Blogger to WP because we'd heard it was so versatile. We had/have no clue what we're doing, and apparently neither did the college instructor, as we had glitches throughout the process and after it was 'finished.' We enlisted in the help of a tech guru who straightened out a LOT of stuff for us.

One problem lingers, and that is that we seem to have fallen off the face of the earth in the blogging world! We're still posting mostly daily and have checked what we knew to check to make sure the links/feeds were updated with the new URL.

We can't identify a problem but feel confident there IS one. For example, we used to see new visitors on a pretty steady basis throughout each day on the BlogFrog visitor's widget; now we're lucky to have one appear every few days. I've checked our BF settings but can find nothing else to change. Also, Blogger followers who knew we changed have had more problems than not trying to 'follow' again with us on WP.

Does anyone have a clue what else we might check to get us back on the map?!?!?

@Julie - transferring from Blogger to WordPress is not as hard as people think. I transfer a lot of people. The only thing Blogger does not allow is a redirect, so you would literally have to post an entry and inform all of your readers of the move. Not a problem if you are changing the URL to your RSS feed (if you use Google Feedburner.) However, the main URL will be something you have to press to your link exchanges and change wherever you put the old site URL.

Hi Everyone! I'm thinking of transferring my Blogger blog to Wordpress. Does anyone have any advice, warnings, etc. Will my followers still be listed? photos? etc.? How long does it take? Thank you!
