Happy b-day Anna and Tomica and congrats Anna on your book!

Ok. I'll have to put a mask over my eyes. I find it hard to keep my eyes closed when I'm awake. LOL

Honestly? It's up to you. Try it for 5 or 10 minutes to start. Pick a moment you remember that you want to explore and capture. Or pick an emotion a character is exploring. Then write.

Ok, I'll try it. It'll be an interesting experiment. How long should the session be? How long do you keep it up?

Best skill I ever learned was typing! (I wrote that in my 20th high school reunion book..."What do you know now you wish you knew then?" I responded..."how to type."

If you can't do it on a keyboard, just put a big clean piece of paper in front of you. It'll be messy, but who cares. It's just for your eyes. When you see the scribble you'll be able to decipher it.

It's a GREAT way to get thoughts, emotions and feelings out. It's so cool. Seriously. It works. Let me know what happens.

I have to try this... but how do you keep your hand moving straight across the page? Or do you type it on the computer? I wouldn't be able to do that, then. I need to see the keyboard. :-(

Debbie - I know - isn't that neat? It's a really great exercise. I used it for my book. When I needed to get deep and explain a feeling, I closed my eyes. It's really cool.

Happy B-day, Anna!
The link to your book works fine. :-)

Sarah, how interesting that your writing voice changes depending on whether you write with your eyes open or closed. How fascinating!

Debbie - you mentioned writing in the dark. I actually write with my eyes closed sometimes (I'm a great typist so it works...). It's an AMAZING way to write - SO cool! Sarah @ www.MommyLiteOnline (wrote a fun piece yesterday called Christopher "the situation" Columbus for anyone interested...that one I did with my eyes open. I am funnier with my eyes open. Deeper with them closed)
