Hello, Mom Bloggers!
I'm new to MBC and wanted to introduce myself. I am serious about this blogging endeavor I have taken on. I was an English major in college and a writing minor. For the last 13 years while I've been a mom I put my career aside. But this is my career now. I hope for my blog to be a source of income. I write from the heart and off the cuff and from my very active imagination and soul stirrings. I hope you come by and visit. Have a read, drop a comment, and friend me!
My blog address is: http://www.amymusings.com

Can you relate? Does anyone else have a hubby that does this?

Hi fellow writers, I'm new to this group! OK, so I'm not a professional writer, but I love it! Creative writing was my concentration in college. I used to write quite a bit of poetry, but blogging has stolen some of it's thunder.

For those of you interested, my latest blog post is about some fun learning websites for your children! My son is not quite 2.5 and these websites have him using the computer like a champ! Most I listed are geared toward older children though.

Rejection is a very common thing in the writing world. I don't think I have heard of any author--save a rare few--who have ever gotten accepted on their first handful of queries. I think we should start a tally. One like, "How many times have you gotten rejected before acceptance?"

So far, I have 1.........I'll let you know how high those numbers climb as I walk out to check my mailbox ;)

Like Melinda said by that one editor. 'Each rejection gets you that much closer...'

"Come on lucky number 7! WOOHOO!!"

Thanks, Melinda. I'll look for those. :)

Hi Melissa,
Unfortunately, no. They don't have anything online. You should check out ACW though. (American Christian Writers). They have weekend conferences all over the country and they are relatively inexpensive. (compared to a four-day conference.) I think the website is www.acw.com, but you can just google American Christian Writers and it will take you to their website.

Hang in there ... One editor I heard speak told me to view each rejection as just one step closer to acceptance. Doesn't always help me feel better, but I like the sentiment! ;0)

Okay, rejected from Brain, Child. Soooo bummed. I even had a coach help me revise.

Trying to look on the bright side. I wish I could go to that conference. Do they have anything online?

Thanks Melinda!!

I'm actually on the other side of the U.S.Those books are ones I don't have. The one I DO have is: Your Novel Proposal--which is a great book, but I wanted more in depth the presentation of the query and synopsis. I'll definately look at those 2 book suggestions you made! Maybe if there is a writer's conference sometime on the West coast--let me know and we can go together ;)

Hi Camryn,
I'll get back to you on the websites, but I can recommend a couple books you should get if you don't have them already .... both by Sally Stuart. The 2009 Christian Writer's Market and the So You Want to Get Published. The second book has a whole chapter on writing queries. I've used their format successfully a number of times! ;0)
You also have to go to a writer's conference! I've been to the Florida Christian Writer's Conference the last two years. It's in Leesburg, FL, near Orlando. It's expensive, but worth every penny. Great seminars and lots of editors, agents and publishers in attendance. Where do you live, Camryn? It would be great it you could go. It's one of the biggest Christian writing conferences in the country. You're head explodes from all the great info you learn... plus all the contacts you make with publishers, etc. Hope this is helpful! ;0)
