I work for Elance, and enjoy it a lot. It takes some persistence to land a job, but at least it's free to bid. I'm editing a novel for my current client--a two-month job that I'm loving.

Elance is basically a freelance hub where people post jobs and you could bid for the ones that interest you. Textbroker is a writing site where you pick up small writing assignments as and when you go. Its not too much but its a good start. You work on your schedule and I like that...

Hi Debra...welcome. Have you considered checking out sites like elance and textbroker to start off freelance writing from home?

Hi everyone! Just joined the group and I hope to get to know many of you all do, I have a passion for writing and hope to one day be able to freelance from home. For now though, because I have a full-time account management job, I fulfill my writing craving in the evening by blogging and writing poetry.

Good News today! I have been asked my my local paper to be a monthly columnist. You gotta start somewhere right? If you haven't already, I would encourage many of you to contact your local paper and ask if they have "Guest Columnists." In my case, it lead to more. I'm loving all of the blogs I'm reading today and following all! Thanks! Julie

Another Mom Hat: High School Choice Researcher

We've come to that moment of parenthood that came much too quickly for my preference, but nevertheless, it's here. We are now looking into high schools for my first-born. I've always been a private-school, Catholic school kid & parent so now we're transitioning to the public school system. I've decided to go out of my comfort zone because we're fortunate to belong to an awesome school district with great high school pathway options. I've done some outside research & now it's a matter…

Motherhood is a Learning Journey

...This week has been a true test of my sheer will and strength as a mother--sending my 13-year-old, my first-born off on a 5-day retreat miles away, off the grid---no contact! It's been emotional--up & down--happy for him, worried for him, excited for him then missing him. Very much missing him.  And I survived. My Huz has survived (barely) & his younger brother (very bonded to him) also survived.  We missed him SO SO much!! But we love him and want him to experience…
