Kleenex® Brand Tissues with Sneeze Shield Wants Your Tips for Back to School Success!

Kleenex® Brand understands the importance of hands-on learning. That's why Kleenex® Brand tissues have Sneeze Shield to help keep stuff off kids' hands. In fact, they’ve put together a helpful guide to ensure you and your children get the most out of the new school year. Kleenex tissues and award-winning teacher Patrice McCrary have teamed up to help families prepare for back-to-school and promote hands-on learning in the classroom.

To encourage hands-on learning and celebrate the milestone of entering kindergarten, the brand recently hosted a Hands-On Learning Day event in a kindergarten classroom. Five mom bloggers and their children beginning kindergarten this fall attended the event, along with five local parents and incoming kindergarteners entering McCrary’s kindergarten class. The “upgraded” kindergarten orientation event was designed to give children and parents a real taste of what school is like—complete with a school bus ride. The event featured hands-on learning activities for the children, similar to what they experience at school. Parents also had one-on-one time with McCrary to ask questions about preparing their children to enter kindergarten and how to encourage their success in the classroom.

It was a fantastic day for mom and kids and now, we want to active all social media moms to participate in the Hands on Learning and Back to School experience.

We would love for your participation in the following ways:

1. Ask a Question: Leave a comment on this post and ask Patrice any question that you have. We’ll collate all of the questions and have her answer them in a Q&A format later this month (August).

2. By Mom for Mom Guide for Back to School Success: Collaborate with moms across the country and share your top three tips for getting your kids ready for the fall routine. That is such a great idea to get the kids and parents off to a good start! I miss having a little one. Today was my son's first day at high school (yikes!).

I am a retired teacher who faced many challenges with challenged students. It warms the heart to see how some of our efforts have paid off. Look at the link above and you will see one of the reasons I feel teaching is so rewarding. Bruce was a refugee without a clear vision to the future, his eyes were opened as his heart was consoled with love and he hasn't looked back since. He left a war torn country with no hope and starting anew he developed into one of the greatest leaders of our time.

LOL....it's good that you can step back like that and realize you need to stop the merry-go-round. :) They just want to play and eat snacks. That seems their only desires at that age. So I focus on "I wonder who will be in your class"..."I wonder what kind of snacks you get in preschool/kindergarten." "I wonder if they have some of the same books we do or new and different ones" etc.
The worst is when they get to elem school and parents start putting so much emphasis on "what teacher do you want/what teacher did you get?" I say "guys, you get what you get".
Good luck. we all learn as we go. You're not the only one whose kid didn't come with an instruction book ;) LOL

Jennifer -

You are absolutely right! My son is excited about going to school and I'm the one spinning in circles. I just want to make sure I haven't missed anything. I am a first time mom learning as I go along.

My third boy just started kindergarten and one thing I've noticed is that some parents seem to put too much pressure and emphasis on the "big day". It's not that we don't do or say anything special, but we do and say less to the kids. My kindergartener was asked SOOOO many times "are you excited for Kindergarten?" that he started rollign his eyes! I know...not polite. But seriously....Some parents need to chill out and just go with the flow on that.
Laila - as far as your question about transition...I think it we make it a big deal/worry, then the kids will too. It's harder on you than him ;) The teachers are used to that and know what to do. Ask them if he's ready. You and they together are the best judges of that. Good luck!

I know there is a lot of focus on kindergartners but do you have any advice for moms of preschoolers? My son will begin preschool part-time this fall and then I hope to transition him to full-time. Any advice?
